Cancer Full Moon – 29 December 2020, 10:28pm EST

This is the last full moon of the year, also known as The Cold Moon. We have passed the winter solstice, but winter has truly taken grip of the northern hemisphere. We naturally settle in for (hopefully) the cozy warmth of home and familiar loved ones. This year has been especially cozy – or perhaps isolating and lonely. Both themes are appropriate for the sign of homebody, reclusive Cancer.

All full moons are about culminating and releasing energy, or about “shining a light” or focusing on a certain area in your life depending on the specific full moon. Full moons are notorious for heightened energies – both good and not-so-good energies. Sleep and moods are often disturbed by full moons. However, full moons are the optimal time for releasing, healing, and reflection. If you use the opportunity to your advantage, this can be an excellent time for letting go of anything holding you back. (Just be advised that we should wait to start anew and set new intentions during the new and waxing moons, rather than full moons).

When the moon is in Cancer, emotions tend to run high. This will be maximized by the intense full moon, so watch out for mood swings and overreactions, especially in personal matters. This full moon will shine a light specifically on “personal affairs.” Use this full moon to reflect on the workings of your private life, and your internal emotional structures. Could your closest relationships use some work? Are you carrying around emotional baggage that you know is holding you back? Nurturing, intuitive Cancer brings intense healing energy – especially for repairing your intimate relationships, as well as for inner healing.

This full moon is also an ideal time for purposefully and intentionally letting go of anything that no longer serves us and/or hinders and restricts us. Cancer is also famed for holding abiding grudges! Use this full moon’s energy to help you release unpleasant emotional baggage – like grudges, negative self-talk, or self-sabotaging patterns of behavior. Your intuition knows what you need to release and banish from your life. Really reflect and trust your intuition to guide you in letting go. Trust that you will be amazed by what will appear to replace whatever you release. Follow the instinct to go within this full moon. Be extra kind to yourself, and to your dearest loved ones. Reflect on what you carry. If it’s heavy, it’s time to put it down. Honor your energy by taking a spiritual salt bath with the intention of cleansing your energy. Take this little time to rest and heal before the new year. May it do you good.
