Super Easy Spiritual Cleansing Bath

The moon is waning, and currently in the waning gibbous phase. The waning gibbous is an ideal time frame for deliberate cleansings and banishing. This bath recipe includes only one herbal ingredient – Rosemary, which is traditionally ruled by the Zodiac sign Capricorn. Rosemary has long been praised as an effective spiritual purifying herb and also has the distinction of clearing away “brain fog” and relieving depressive moods.

As we prepare for the new moon in Capricorn on Wednesday Jan 13th, I wanted to offer you this simple and effective cleansing bath recipe in advance. (Be advised, you will want to do this before bedtime.)

You will need:

• Fresh rosemary sprigs (you don’t want dried herb for this, trust me). You can usually find fresh rosemary in your local Kroger, etc. in the fresh produce section with the salads.

• An unused white candle. (ANY unburned white candle will work, even tea lights!)• Water
• Optional: a purifying incense of your choice (cedar, sandalwood, frankincense, etc.)

Step 1: Fill a saucepan with about 3-4 cups of water. Do NOT heat yet! Place your fresh rosemary in the water and “wash it” vigorously with your hands in the unheated water. Press and squeeze the leaves as you wash. If you like, say a prayer or mantra for what you want the rosemary to do for you. (Some folks like to use the 23rd Psalm, but this is up to you).

Step 2: Set your rosemary and water on the stove to boil. Once the water is fully boiling, turn off the heat and let it steep like a tea for 7-10 minutes.

Step 3: Strain the rosemary tea into a large mixing bowl (be careful to remove the scraps, for the sake of your bathroom drains!). Repeat your prayer/mantra over the bowl and bring it into your bathroom.

Step 4: Set the white candle near your tub (at a safe distance from water or being knocked over), along with your incense if you choose. Light both and repeat your prayer/mantra. If you have a bathtub, pour the mixture directly into your bathwater and cool to your comfort. Imagine the bathwater sparkling with healing, purifying energy. (If you only have a shower, that’s ok. Just visualize the water in the bowl as charged with the needful energy. Give yourself a good scrub in the shower before you begin the cleansing, and be extra careful to check the temp of the water in the bowl before you use it).

Step 5: Soak in the bathwater (if you have a tub). Breathe deeply and imagine that your aura is drawing in purifying energy with every breath and visualize that healing energy dispelling and removing any negative energy or attachments from you. Scrub yourself with the water if you like.

Step 6: Finally, cup the water with your hands and begin pouring it over you, beginning with the crown of your head, down your back and all over your body. Don’t miss the soles of your feet! Repeat your prayer or mantra as you do this, declaring all that you want removed from you (depression, anxiety, anger, negative spiritual attachments, etc). When you step out of the tub or shower, dab yourself dry with the towel rather than rubbing. Simply drain away the bathwater.

Put on light-colored (no black!) sleepwear. If you wish to do any closing prayers or mantras, bring the candle with you. Otherwise, extinguish it. You will likely feel very heavy and sleepy after this ritual – this is normal, so do not be alarmed. Sleep after this bath is usually very sound sleep, so try to give yourself an early bedtime afterwards. For extra oomph on a good night’s sleep, clean underneath your bed before this ritual (not afterwards!) to remove all dust and grime. After your cleansing ritual, fill a bowl with clean water and say a prayer that it absorbs any negative energy while you’re in bed. Place it underneath your bed where you sleep before you retire for the night.

To prepare for a drawing/attracting bath with the upcoming Capricorn new moon, I suggest that you procure some dried chamomile herb in advance. This new moon is coming in 10 days, so you have plenty of time to Etsy that. I hope you all enjoyed this super-simple, fail-safe spiritual cleansing bath recipe. If used with regularity, spiritual cleansing baths can notably improve your energy levels, moods, and psychic abilities. If you use this recipe, please share your experience with me in the comments! Thank you all for reading!
