Recently I published a blog recommending my super-easy spiritual cleansing bath recipe and ritual for use during the waning moon. In honor of the approaching Capricorn New Moon (13 January 2021 at 12:02am), I want to offer you my quick-and-easy Abundance Bath recipe. This simple, one-ingredient potion features dried chamomile, a prosperity and luck herb which is also ruled by Capricorn.
To prepare for this ritual, first you must set your intentions for prosperity and abundance. What would “prosperity and abundance” mean in your life right now? The clearer you can envision this, the better. If you like, you may choose a psalm or proverb that represents prosperity and abundance to you or make up your own prayer. You may craft your own affirmations (ex: “I am created for wealth and abundance,” “I easily attract all the money I need”, “I have unlimited prosperity”, etc). You will use these prayers and affirmations during this ritual, so have them ready in your mind.
You will need:
- About ¼ to ½ cup of dried chamomile flowers
- An unused candle (white, green, yellow, gold, or orange would work great!)
- Optional: incense for prosperity (some ideas: cinnamon, jasmine, patchouli, sandalwood, nag champa), crystals (some suggestions: carnelian, pyrite, citrine, jade, clear quartz)
- A jar for saving a little of the prepared mixture for later use, if desired
Step 1: Fill a saucepan with 4-6 cups of tap water, but do NOT heat yet! Pour out your dried chamomile into the unheated water, and “wash” the herbs with the water. The dried flowers will likely disintegrate and that is fine. As you do this, “tell” the herbs specifically and directly what you want them to do for you.
Step 2: Set the saucepan on the stove and turn on the heat. Allow the water to come to a gentle boil, then turn off the heat and allow to steep for 7-10 minutes. If you have a tub, prepare your bath water to your taste. Set your candle (and incense and crystals, if you choose) at a safe distance but nearby your tub/shower. Prepare your sacred space for your bath.
Step 3: Strain your bath mixture into a large bowl and bring with you into the bathroom. (If you like, take a small amount of the golden chamomile water, and save for later use as a lucky hand wash). If you only have a shower, go ahead, and give yourself a good scrub and rinse while your bowl cools to a safe temperature. If you have a tub prepared, take a moment to bless and consecrate both the bathtub water and your ritual bath water with your prayer/affirmations, then pour the water into your bathtub. Visualize that the chamomile water is a luminescent with the golden light of abundance and wealth.
Step 4: Slip into your bathwater and envision yourself swathed in the golden energy of prosperity, abundance, and wealth. Repeat your affirmations or prayers as you breathe this energy within and soak in it. If you have a shower, do this visualization, and repeat your prayers/affirmations while using your hands to pour your magickal bath over yourself, starting with the crown of your head and working down to the soles of your feet.
Step 5: When you feel that you have completed the ritual, step out of your bathtub/shower, and dab yourself dry with a towel. Ground and center yourself, then say any closing prayers or affirmations that you feel appropriate. If you like, take your candle and incense with you to your bedroom or altar. If you feel, you may extinguish the candle and close the ritual. (Remember not to leave your crystals in any standing water).
Step 6 (Optional): If you feel drawn to do so, you may save a little of your used bathwater and sprinkle it on your doorstep to attract prosperity to your door, but this step is not necessary for the magickal bath to be effective. Also, if you chose to save some of your bath mixture in a jar for later, you may use it as a hand wash for future occasions when you want to enhance your personal luck or attract prosperity.
